Job changing.......

About 2 more weeks and I'll be fully under a new department.  It is one that I keep returning to so it must be where I'm meant to be.  But this back and forth thing is driving me nuts.  I feel like I'm doing nothing in my old job and not doing enough in my new one.  And I'll get to come back and train the person.  Yippee Skippy.

Maybe I'm just tired...it was a long day yesterday. One of thunderstorms that I wish had lasted just a wee bit longer.  At least the desk in my new department is next to the windows.

I will be glad to be off a floor where the foot traffic is incredible.  Put the folks that have to go to a lot of meetings and are back and forth and the top of the hall and those of us sit at a desk most of the time at the end.  That way - no one is disturbed.

Staff meeting for old department in 15 minutes.  Bleck!  These are so boring and just a waste of general time.  The information really isn't that interesting and I think I just want to be done here.  Only 4.5 more days to go.

Why is it that when you want something to happen, it feels like the calendar moves so slow?  It felt like forever to get to a vacation or a trip.  But this switching jobs feels like it is taking forever.  And maybe it is because I want to be there so badly and out of here.

I need a coffee before this meeting.

Just a wee bit tired......

The Drama Fairy has found me again....I keep trying to hide from it but I just can't.  What is it about drama that just makes me miserable?  Too many people stuck in their own little world and bringing it to my world.  I don't want drama, don't need drama, take your drama and get out of my life!

I want to enjoy my life - it is all too short and we never know how long it will be.  I want to stop and smell the flowers.  I want to marvel at nature.  I want to enjoy the warmth of the sun on my face and be amazed by the glow of the moon.  I want to laugh when my dog licks my face.

Evicting those with drama out of my life becomes tiresome.  There is enough legitimate drama in this world, we don't need to manufacture more to make ourselves feel important, in control, or just to have some entertainment.  Things happen to people - deal with it and move on.  The only thing we can control is our reaction to situations as they present themselves to us.  How we react can determine how the drama plays out.

Enough drama!

Bored at work

Ahhh…I’ve reached the dreaded – I don’t have anything to do at work – period. I really hate it when stuff slows completely down to nothing. At least I have a training to do tomorrow in Rutland – it at least the 3+ hours on the road will keep me from playing stupid games on Facebook all day. Cause that is all I really want to do!

The attitude seems to have gotten better. And the work – my 30+year employee actually did work this pay period. Course she missed a whole week due to the untimely passing of her brother. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Wish she had been here instead. While she might not have worked, she wouldn’t have lost her brother.

So why is it that we have a project pending – big project of a software upgrade – that the one person that is going to be needed to do all the testing etc is the one that our manager is teaching how to do the quarterly taxes? Wouldn’t it be smarter to train one of us that isn’t going to be spending 80% of our time working on the upgrade? Seriously?

When will the work crap end?????

I've discovered the way to shut up my co-worker without physically slapping her.....piss her off! Yay! This totally worked today. I mean do I really need to be told that because this is the last pay period before Xmas that we should try to run off cycles for staff? Really? This isn't my first time at the rodeo. I've been here 10 Xmas' and processed some type of payroll for 8 of those years. And when I tell you that I don't need to be told that in your usual condescending tone - you get all pissy. Well good! Thank the Gods she is off tomorrow. Poor E is starting to crack. There is way too much going on to deal with her shit. We have 3 people - and only 2 of us seem to be actually working.

I'm sorry that you have been here 30 years and yet you haven't ever learned anything new since then. You are afraid of the computer. You're afraid of everything. LIVE! I thought I was bad - but I am no where in your league. And please, get some fucking therapy!

Co-workers who don't work

Spent all of yesterday listening to my co-worker talk to all customers of a restaurant about a coupon deal that was going on. Seriously - all day long. Its a small office - not even cube walls that could drown out some of the noise.

And a boss that just lets it happen. Yes, he gave his notice and is leaving in late winter - but she is going to drive away our new employee. And we are supposed to hire another person - really? Who will that person be interviewed by? The new manager or the old manager? Arrgghh!

Work! Work! Work! Do your personal stuff on your own time - on your days off. You only work 64 hours every two weeks.

That is all.

It's been almost a year....

Wow - it's been almost a year since I last posted. I forget that I have this blog and can use it vent when stuff is bothering me or rave when great things happen.
So much has happened since I last wrote.

We have two more cats now, Hazzard and Vader. Hazzard came to use by way of a co-worker. She had taken him in from someone else but her allergies wouldn't let her keep him. He is a hazzard to everything, but he is beginning to let me hold him for extended periods of time.

Vader came to us by way of stray. He was sitting on the porch railing one afternoon and no one knew who he belonged to. I pouted at Glenn and he gave in - I could keep him.. He is very affectionate and loves to be held. I think that Elsa sent him to us. I hope she is happy wherever she is.

Work is going well, for the most part. We are in the process of upgrading to Kronos. It is a tedious process, but seems to be going well. We have over 1000 employees on the system, only about 5000 more to go. I will be so glad when the majority of the nursing staff get online with it. I won't have to hear how I messed up someone's check anymore! It will be their own fault if it is messed up. Woo hoo!

In October, I started to explore Wicca and joined coven. The coven of the Earth Dragon. It has been a really good experience for me. My spritutality is able to come alive and I so enjoy the people in my coven. I have a lot of inner work to do and this is helping to do that. It is helping me to build my self-confidence which I desperately need. I'm learning about crystals and how they can affect the energy in me, and how I affect others energy. I love it and can't wait to attend a larger circle. I helped to cast the circle in my second open ritual and while I was really nervous, the energy that I felt was amazing. I should reach my first degree in October before Sawhain.
Well, that's all that's going on....it's been a very busy year. I hope to be able to write more often.

Crappy Neighbors

My neighbor and I finally had it out today. I'm tired of her bitching about my dog, but the first time I complain about something, she has to freak out about it. It ended with me calling her a nasty name and slamming my door. I'm hope that she enjoyed it. She didn't like the fact that I had something to complain about and she didn't even address the fact that she opens her door anytime that someone comes to visit us when we aren't home and manages to complain about our dog. I told her that she wouldn't appreciate it if every time someone came to her house that I complained about her piece of junk car that hasn't run in 3 years and is never going to run. She didn't seem to like it and said that we just want the parking space. That has nothing to do with it. I'm waiting for it to go rolling back into our car. And who will pay for that when that happens? Certainly not her.

I'm just tired of her bullshit and let her have it. Finally.

Catching Up

Been a long time since I posted anything - couple more months and it will be a year. Last time I wrote, I had just started a new position in the payroll department. I'm still loving that and enjoying my co-workers. One co-worker just found out that her sister that has been fighting cancer for many years is at the end of her fight. She is very young - only 36 - and has two young children. Its very sad and I feel so awful for my co-worker. I can't imagine what she must be going through. I can only offer my support and help with whatever I can.

My poor kitty Elsa - my namesake for this blog - passed away two weeks ago. She had been losing weight for at least 6 months and when we took her back to the vet, the x-rays showed a tumor in her lung. We decided not to put her through more tests - we figured her age around 17 or so. I was lucky enough to have her in my life for 11 years. She was the best cat that anyone could have hoped for and I miss her terribly. If you have never had a pet, you are missing the best thing that could happen to you. Zinger - the crazy one and Shaleigh, our barking dog feel the loss as well. Maybe someday I'll get another kitty - as a playmate for Zinger. The dog only plays for so long before she wants to go lay down.

An now a rant about my neighbor - this is the woman that complains to our landlords that she barks all the time. Well, she doesn't bark all the time. Only when she hears noise outside - which with the ins and outs of neighbor - is a lot. That woman goes in and out of her house constantly. We have done everything we can to limit the amount of stimulation that Shaleigh hears and sees during the day. She can't see anything out the front windows or the front door and we keep the stereo on and also a radio in the bedroom where she spends most of her day. I've been able to get into the house and shut the door before she realizes that someone is there, so I know that she isn't barking all day. Our neighbor has taken to talking to our visitors that stop by when we aren't home to complain about our dog. She chose the wrong person to do that too this time - my best friend - who we got the dog from - stopped by to pick up Shaleigh for a babysitting weekend and stupid neighbor opened the door to complain. Well, she got an earful. My best friend gave it to her and hopefully, that will shut her up. I will be complaining to our landlord about her - I've had enough. She's also getting a nasty letter in her mailbox - to stop her from sending us little notes in our door - which only sets off the dog I'm sure. How would she like it if I opened my door every time someone stopped by and asked them about her not having a job for almost two years. She probably wouldn't like that very much. She is a pain in the butt - and more!

Haven't had time to post

I haven't had time to post in the last month. The new job is keeping quite busy and evenings I just seem to forget about posting.

So - the new job is going quite well I think. I'm certainly busy enough - although we seem to have gotten it down to a science and seem to be getting things done in a more timely fashion. We even each got to have extra time off last week because we were so caught up, we didn't have anything else to do. :) We can't be too efficient though - otherwise someone will get their hours cut.

I don't miss my old job at all. Not one bit. It's surprising too - even all the stuff that I had to hand off to others that I so worried about - I don't care about anymore. I could care less if they get the stuff done and get it done correctly. It was definately a good move for me to come to where I am now. I feel much better about myself, my job, the work that I do and when I go home at night, I don't worry about anything. I just do my job and go home and enjoy my life. It's nice for a change. I haven't felt this good about work since about 2002 or so.

Our favorite doggie is now on doggie prozac. Her separation anxiety came to a head after we got her fixed and she decided that she was going to bark at everything no matter if they were near the house or not. She was draining the collar of the cintronella and driving our bitchy neighbor who complains about her all the time - without cause. Granted, she barks at her everytime she comes out of her house - but she goes in and out constantly when she is sunbathing - maybe she should get a job and actually do some work! Just like I need to get to work or I won't get out early next week!

First day of new job

Well, today is the first day of my new job. I survived the last few weeks of my old one. Managed to suffer through the last day. They gave me a party on Wednesday - which was very nice and I will miss working for most of them. Especially the woman that I worked for first. But on to better things!

I got most of the my stuff organized yesterday. After putting in some hours working and getting the stuff ready for today's big push. Nothing like starting on a week where the stuff could hit the fan. I'm a little nervous but will manage to get things done correctly. I need to see how the flow works before suggesting any changes. One women in the department already is thinking of ways that we could be doing more instead of having to forward calls to her all the time. She is very excited that I am coming to the department and I am excited to be working with all of them.

Yesterday was much too humid to even think! It's still 76 degree's out and it's quarter to five in the morning. How do people in the south deal with this? How did people in the past before air conditioning and too many clothes deal with it? I'm very thankful that I live in the age of less clothes and more cold air!

Well, off to the shower to get on with my day. Have a great day everyone!

I found out today who I can trust and who I can't. I innocently pass on some information to a collegue about one of her staff and it comes back to bite me in the ass. I'm waiting now for the inevitable to happen. I only found out what was going on because my access to an outlook calendar had been removed and I had to ask another person who has viewing rights to see if they could still access it. And I'm sure that they will try to get me for breaking confidentiality, but the person who ratted me out went back to the person who told them, therefore breaking my confidentiality and also by placing the information in the calendar for others to see. So really, they did they same that I did. Granted, I did break that confidentiality but to only one person and for a reason that they were trying to keep track of how much time this person spent away from their desk. It wasn't to be malicious or to be sh-- disturbing in any way. But it just goes to show me who I can trust and who I can't and now I'm really glad that I'm leaving the department and going to a totally different one. I'm just hoping that this doesn't screw my chances with the new job.

Rain

I like an occasional rainy day - too much sun bothers me. But this is getting ridiculus. It's been nothing but rain every weekend for weeks. The last weekend with sun was Memorial Day and it was so humid it might as well have been raining. What has happened to the sunshine and 75 degree days that we used to have. And if anyone says this is global warming, I may have to hurt them.

On a better note, I went to Scrapbook Central with my sister-in-law today. I could have spent the better part of the day there and a lot more money! I came home with a good amount of stuff though. Enough to keep me going for awhile. Hopefully, Wednesday, I will be able to go with B to her friend's house who got her into this. It would be great to learn from someone who has been doing it awhile. I am having a good time with it though. I'm glad I was able to get some new stuff though - I was getting tired of using the same stuff over and over.

Got to start in my new job yesterday for some overtime. Funny how things just come back like you never left. I completely feel comfortable and actually had fun doing it. I don't remember having fun doing it before, but that doesn't mean anything. Maybe because I felt it was something that was just added to my job rather than it being something that I wanted to do. I hope that I can live up to everyone's expectations but I think I will. I know how to do the job, I'm accurate and fast, pleasant to deal with and don't take it personal when someone screams at me on the phone. :)

Well, off to find out if the indoor BBQ that was supposed to happen is still happening - it's looking like I'm the only one who was going to be able to go. One person wasn't feeling well, another has issues with her husband and if he is feeling up to watching the kids, then she would come. The others I don't know if they were going to go or not. I'm guessing not.

Have a great rainy weekend. :)

Colds.....

I came down with my first cold since last year last night. I made it all the way through the winter without getting sick. Why is it that the immune system just can't stay healthy!?!?

Not much else going on. Work is still pretty slow and I'm just about stir crazy from it. I hate not having anything to do and I don't think that it will be picking up any time soon. The woman who will have to pick up all the work that I do until a replacement is hired is in no way qualified to do it. She gets that deer in headlights look on her face any time I mention something that she is going to have to learn how to do. I don't think that a week is long enough to teach her and I'm sure that there will be lots of phone calls. The question is, how much do I train her and how much will I have to train my replacement. I really shouldn't worry about it too much. I am leaving the department altogether and it shouldn't be my problem of how much work that I do now and what is left for the ones that remain. But I worry about it anyway. I guess that is what makes me a good worker or employee.

Company coming this weekend and will be here for a week. BG and the boys will be here to visit. I hope the damn weather clears up. I can't imagine having the two of them inside all week because of rain.

Well, back to looking busy. I just hope I can maintain this until next Friday.
Ciao!

A Ghost Story

John Bradford, a Sydney University student, was on the side of the road hitch hiking on a very dark night and in the midst of a storm. The night was rolling on and no car went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him.

Suddenly he saw a car slowly coming towards him and stopped. John, desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got in the car and closed the door, just to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on!

The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road and saw a Curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life. Then, just before he hit the curve a hand appeared through the window and Turned the wheel, John, paralysed with terror, watched how the hand appeared every time they came to a curve.

John saw the lights of a pub down the road so, gathering strength, jumped out of the car and ran to it. Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and asked for two shots of whisky. He then started telling everybody about the horrible experience he went through.A silence enveloped everybody when they realized he was crying and...wasn't drunk.

About 15 minutes later, two guys walked into the same pub. They Were also wet and out of breath. Looking around and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said to the other, "Look, Bruce... Here's the idiot that got in the car while we were pushing it."

Bedtime routine of the dog

The Hubby and I recently adopted a dog - and she is wonderful for the most part. The weird part is when it's time to go to bed. She whines, and has to be on the bed and totally freaks out when she can't be - meaning one of the cats is on there and defending it with their life - and when is up there, she licks us to death and can't get close enough. I know that she was an abused dog and that some of it is just anxiety, but my poor hubby cannot be left alone unless I'm there to play the disciplinarian. I feel so bad for him because he just doesn't have it in his nature to do it. And I feel like the bad mom because I'm the one that scolds her when she needs it.

Hopefully, as time goes on, (we've only had her 3 weeks) she will get better and know that she is ours and we love her.

Work Slowdown

Why is it that when you give your notice at a job, those you work for suddenly start giving you less work? I gave my notice of transfer to a new position in the same company. Last week, I could barely keep up with the work and now I have nothing to do hence this blog. I found a friend through their blog last week that I hadn't spoken to in a long while and found his to be interesting.
I thought that this would be a healthy way for me to get out any frustration and stress and just in general talk about whatever I wanted. :)

So I've given my notice, they have given me the "what will we do without you" routine and now I have to sit here for 2 weeks with nothing to do? Come on! My brain is still functioning. My fingers still fly over the keyboard. Are they already adjusting to life without me? Dang! That was fast. When do I start to train the ones that are left here to do the work until they fill my position even though they don't have the skills to do it? It will take me at least two weeks to train the other women to do some of my stuff and then I'll have to train the one they hire too. Looks like any extra time that I have in my new job will be spent here trying to get them up to speed. Think I'll still get the same rate of pay?

Well, all for now. Gotta run.
